Privacy at Proseward

Your manuscript is yours. You keep ownership of everything you write in Proseward. We use your content only to provide the features you ask for. We never sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. AI features are optional and send only the material needed for the action you run — you can see exactly what is sent, before and after every request.

Where your work is stored

A project is either local — an ordinary folder on your own computer that Proseward never uploads for storage — or cloud, stored in your Proseward account. The app shows which one a project is using, and you choose when you create it.

What AI features send

AI is optional. When you run an AI feature, Proseward sends only the material that action needs — normally the chapter you selected plus the specific notes and Story Bible entries it references, not your whole manuscript. Before you run a chapter review you can open the Context panel to see the exact list, and every AI interaction keeps a record of what was sent that you can reopen afterwards.

Who receives it

We use paid commercial AI APIs, not consumer chat products, and we do not enable data-sharing or model-improvement options on them. Depending on the model you choose, the recipient is Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter and the model provider it routes to. The app names the provider for each action.

What we do not do

We do not sell your content, use it for advertising, or use it to train Proseward's or anyone else's models. We keep manuscript text out of our analytics and operational logs — those record content-free facts such as the action, the model, token counts and whether the call succeeded.

Still being built

Account-wide data export and permanent deletion of cloud projects are in development and are not available yet. Until they ship you can export any project as an archive from the app. We will not describe those controls as available before they are.
